Boswell Speaks: Volume 4

The fourth and final volume of Grossman's hilarious canine Twitter novel, Boswell Speaks was released on April 23, 2013. This last installment of the charmingly illustrated saga follows Grossman's real-life Australian Terrier pal, Boswell, in his continuing quest for enlightenment and romance. Along the way, the pup consults his Higher Poocher to help solve life’s mysteries, and in a moment of ultimate canine brilliance, Boswell offers a marvelous answer to the age-old question: If God created everything, who or what created God? Winner of @BoswellSpeaks Twitter Contest Announced

In September and October 2012, Twitter followers were invited to enter a contest to win their pet a fictional date with Boswell, Richard Grossman’s real-life Australian Terrier pal. To enter, people tweeted photos of their pets to @BoswellSpeaks and let the pup know why they would make a perfect match. Now we’re pleased to announce the grand prize winner: Sasha, a 3 ½ year-old black lab mix, whose photo Boswell is shown selecting here from the group of finalists. Sasha’s proud owner has received a $50 Petco^® gift card and the beautiful, rescued dog will be featured in the next eBook volume of Boswell Speaks.

Car-illon System™

This unique musical instrument invented by Grossman, which transforms a fleet of 13 cars into an “automotive marching band,” was featured in the second annual Las Vegas Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31, 2011, and in the San Diego County Veterans Day Parade on Monday, November 11, 2011. The Car-illon System is among several ambitious, genre-breaking projects in art, architecture, music, performance, poetry and prose that the author is creating as part of Breeze Avenue, his forthcoming 3,000,000-page work conceived as a literary analog of heaven. Thousands of images of the Car-illon events, recorded by video cameras mounted on and in the cars, will appear within the book. Click here to learn more.

Pop-Up Torah

On August 23, 2011 Pop-Up Torah, one of several “poetic objects”—works in a variety of media that give literal form to poetry and prose—that Richard Grossman is producing in conjunction with his forthcoming book, Breeze Avenue, was installed in Mount Princeton, a 14,000-foot-high peak in southern Colorado’s Collegiate Range.

At the heart of the work is the Torah Ball, a 5-inch corundum (synthetic sapphire) sphere incised with the Ten Commandments by master Steuben engraver Max Erlacher. This beautiful orb, almost as hard as diamond, was inserted into a 300-foot-deep shaft close to the summit of the mountain, one of the tallest in the Rockies.

After approximately 20 million years, as a result of natural forces, the Torah Ball will emerge undamaged from the eroded peak and bear the Ten Commandments down the mountain. In the meantime, in order to assure that the work remains undisturbed by human intervention, the precise location of the Pop-Up Torah will not be revealed. Click here to learn more.
